The making
One weaver, one warp, the better part of a week
The fiber is the first shearing of a young alpaca — the finest the animal will ever grow — sorted by hand and spun undyed. The warp is dressed thread by thread, then tensioned on a backstrap loom by the weaver's own body, so the cloth answers to how she sits and breathes. Nothing is bleached, nothing is machine-finished, and the fringe is twisted by hand at the end.
