The Film
Woven on a backstrap loom
No motor, no frame. The warp is tied at one end and tensioned by the weaver’s own body, so the cloth answers to how she sits, leans and breathes. It is the slowest way to make a shawl and the only one that gives this hand.
Forty hours of work stand between the animal and the shawl. The fringe alone is knotted one strand at a time.
